Luis Manrique

Luis Manrique is Co-Founder and CEO at Understudy Labs (YC S26), an open-source AI toolkit that helps engineering teams effortlessly migrate production LLM workflows to open weight models they fully own.
Luis holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Santa Clara University and joined Google in 2013 through the Wildfire Interactive acquisition, spending five years across Google's ads ML and programmatic platforms.
A self-described 'reformed ads machine learning guy,' Luis co-invented an ad campaign pacing patent and has a rare combination of deep ML expertise and go-to-market execution, having closed approximately $2M in sales in his first year as founding Member of Technical Staff at Gumloop.
Luis previously served as SVP Solutions at VideoAmp, where he helped lead a revenue pivot from $5M to $50M, and as the first PM at Instacart's Carrot AI, leading both Ads ML and consumer AI initiatives.
As a serial founder, Luis co-founded Ones and Zeros (text-to-SQL using transformers) and now leads Understudy Labs through Y Combinator's S26 batch, building infrastructure that enables companies to reduce LLM costs by replacing proprietary models with fine-tuned open weight alternatives.
