Lukas Schmit

Lukas Schmit is Co-Founder and CTO at Deeptune, a New York City-based AI company building high-fidelity simulation environments, known as training gyms, where AI agents learn to perform real-world tasks through reinforcement learning.
Lukas studied Computational Neuroscience at the University of Southern California and built deep expertise in machine learning, previously serving as a Software Engineer at IBM and as a Founding ML Engineer at Hebbia AI.
With a research background spanning deep learning, computer vision, and signal processing dating back to 2015, Lukas brings rare technical depth to the frontier of agentic AI infrastructure.
Deeptune raised a $43M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz in early 2026, with participation from 776, Abstract Ventures, and Inspired Capital, bringing total funding to over $45M.
Deeptune is tackling the AI industry's data exhaustion crisis by transforming data collection into an engineering and compute problem, enabling AI agents to practice complex enterprise workflows at scale.
