Luke MacQueen

Luke MacQueen is Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Tender Food, a food technology company pioneering plant-based meat with authentic texture using nanofiber spinning technology.
Luke earned his PhD in Engineering Physics from Polytechnique Montreal and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto before joining Harvard's Wyss Institute as a postdoctoral fellow in 2013.
Luke led groundbreaking research in tissue engineering at Harvard, developing 3D heart ventricle models and pioneering fiber-spinning techniques for both biomedical and food applications.
Tender Food raised $12M in seed funding led by Lowercarbon Capital in 2022 and launched from the Wyss Institute in 2020 with co-founders from Kit Parker's Disease Biophysics Group.
Tender Food's products are now available at nearly a dozen Boston-area restaurants, using technology that replicates the fibrous structure of whole-muscle meat to create more realistic plant-based alternatives.
