Malay Kumar Poddar is the Founder and Managing Director of InRisk Labs, a pioneering insurtech company redefining risk management through Smart Index Insurance solutions tailored for climate and market volatility.

Malay began his career at the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) in 1986 and spent over three decades rising through the ranks of India's agricultural insurance ecosystem, culminating in his role as Chairman and Managing Director of the Agricultural Insurance Company of India (AIC).

A member of the NITI Aayog Crop Insurance Task Force, Malay has collaborated with the World Bank Group and global reinsurers on climate risk and agricultural finance, cementing his reputation as one of India's foremost insurance thought leaders.

At AIC, Malay and his co-founder Siddesh Ramasubramanian together managed $1.7 billion in premiums, representing approximately 50% of India's agroclimatic insurance market, a track record that attracted Bessemer Venture Partners to back InRisk Labs at the seed stage.
