Marco Bertone

Marco Bertone is Co-Founder and CEO of Syntetica, a French deeptech startup pioneering chemical depolymerization to recycle mixed nylon textile waste into 100% recycled nylon at industrial scale.
Originally from Italy and raised in London, Marco studied at the London School of Economics and Imperial College Business School, before building commercial expertise in sustainable fashion and second-hand e-commerce, including a Head of Growth role at French premium marketplace The Bradery.
A Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe honoree in Manufacturing and Industry, Marco co-founded Syntetica after witnessing the fashion industry's sustainability crisis firsthand, driven by a conviction that green solutions must be cost-competitive to achieve real scale.
Marco met co-founder Louis Monsigny through the Entrepreneur First accelerator in Paris, and together they secured early partnerships with Victoria's Secret, Etam, and Lululemon, while raising $38M in total funding including a $30M Series A led by Bpifrance with participation from lululemon and MAS Holdings.
Syntetica's proprietary process is the first to recycle both Nylon 6 and Nylon 6,6 from mixed textile waste in a single step, with a commercial demonstration facility being built in partnership with Michelin in Clermont-Ferrand targeting hundreds of tonnes of textile waste processed per year.
