Marco Hutter

Marco Hutter is a Co-Founder and board member of Gravis Robotics, a construction autonomy company transforming heavy machinery with AI, and a Professor of Robotic Systems at ETH Zurich where he directs the Robotic Systems Lab and the ETH Center for Robotics.
Marco earned his PhD from ETH Zurich and completed research stays at Stanford University and MIT, building deep expertise in legged robotics, autonomous control, and machine learning for challenging real-world environments.
Marco has been involved in founding ten ETH spin-off companies that have collectively raised over 230M euros, and his research has been recognized with the Branco Weiss Fellowship and the IEEE/RAS Early Career Award.
Beyond Gravis Robotics, Marco co-founded ANYbotics AG, a leading quadrupedal robot company for industrial inspection, and SwissMile Robotics AG, and since 2024 has served as Director of the Zurich office of the Robotics and AI Institute.
Gravis Robotics has raised over 223M USD in total funding including a landmark 200M USD Series A from SoftBank, achieving unicorn status and deploying autonomous excavation systems across four continents.
