Matej Cernosek

Matej Cernosek is the Co-Founder and CEO of Andrenam, a defense technology startup building an AI-powered distributed maritime sensing network to secure the world's oceans from subsea and surface threats.
Matej earned both a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, then launched his career as a Launch Engineer on the Starship program at SpaceX before serving as a Project Engineer at Sierra Space, where he led rocket propulsion projects.
Drawing on deep aerospace engineering expertise, Matej identified a critical maritime intelligence gap and set out to solve it through vertically integrated sonar hardware and AI-driven software, a vision that attracted investors within 36 hours of launching the seed round.
Under Matej's leadership, Andrenam secured a $10M Seed round led by First Round Capital and a subsequent $18M Series A led by Upfront Ventures, bringing total funding to $30M, while meeting with U.S. lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advance maritime defense policy.
Andrenam has built 35 Pearl buoy sensors that have logged over 4,500 in-water hours in deployments off the California and Washington coasts, establishing the company as a serious player in next-generation subsea threat detection.
