Matteo Bossolini

Matteo Bossolini is Co-Founder and CTO of Cato, Italy's first AI-native platform for public procurement, helping companies find, analyse, and win public tenders with agentic AI. He is based in Milan and is widely recognised as one of the earliest adopters of AI-assisted programming tools in the Italian startup ecosystem.
Matteo studied at ESCP Business School and developed deep technical expertise, becoming a pioneer in applying AI to software development before co-founding Cato in 2025 alongside CEO Andrea Zorzetto.
Matteo champions a 'go big or go home' philosophy, betting that Italy's complex and bureaucratic public procurement market is precisely the right environment for transformative AI. He built Cato's entire product workflow around AI agents, making it one of Italy's most AI-intensive startups by token consumption.
Matteo co-founded Cato in September 2025, secured the first paying client within weeks, closed a 1.6M euro pre-seed round by December 2025, and led the company to 1M euro ARR within six months of launch. Cato subsequently raised a 6M euro Seed round led by Keen Venture Partners, bringing total funding to 7.6M euros.
Cato has grown to over 150 active clients across healthcare, IT, services, and construction in under a year, and targets a European public procurement market worth approximately 2.5 trillion euros annually.
