Matthew Moore

Matthew Moore is Co-Founder of DroneTector, developing advanced radar technology to detect and distinguish between different drone models for enhanced airspace security. He is a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellow based in London.
Matthew earned an MPhys in Physics from Durham University and completed his PhD in millimetre wave physics at the University of St Andrews, where his research focused on high-frequency radar for drone detection. His doctoral work involved developing radar systems designed to detect low-signature targets and received recognition at the UK Radar Society symposium.
Matthew's master's project at Durham involved tracking drone positions to sub-millimetre precision using GPS and inertial measurement systems. He won Best Pitch and £500 at the Converge Challenge for DroneTector's innovative approach to countering dangerous drone use.
DroneTector was incorporated in November 2023 and is developing high-frequency radar systems that can identify and track nano drones, addressing threats to airports, critical infrastructure, and defense installations. The company is supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowship programme and is based in Glasgow, Scotland.
DroneTector's technology addresses the growing threat of small drones, with even $50 drones now presenting major security risks to critical infrastructure. The company's radar systems are designed from the ground up to detect challenging low-signature targets that traditional air defense systems miss.
