Matthew T. Kuhn is the Founder and CEO of Skybound Medtech, a Houston-based company pioneering dual-use biomedical technologies at the intersection of space medicine, longevity, and national defense.
Matthew earned a Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering from the University of Delaware and a Master of Bioengineering from Rice University, before building deep medtech expertise at Ethicon, Siemens Healthcare, Rex Medical, and the Johnson and Johnson Center for Device Innovation.
An inventor on more than 50 US and international pending patents spanning cardiovascular access, surgical oncology, and cardiac electrophysiology, Matthew is a serial entrepreneur reshaping the future of human health on Earth and in space.
At the J&J Center for Device Innovation, Matthew led development of novel device platforms and helped spin out companies including Prana Thoracic and Shield Medical; he also founded Taurus Vascular out of the Texas Medical Center Biodesign Program, winning the $30,000 Grand Prize at the Texas A&M New Ventures Competition in 2024.
Skybound Medtech is raising a $25M initial round with $7M committed, partnering with Rice University, Texas A&M EnMed, and Capital Factory, and plans to launch ten dual-use medtech spinouts that will create 100+ jobs across Texas.
