Mattias Akke

Mattias Akke is the Founder and CEO of Halmos Labs, a Y Combinator-backed biotech startup building automated, interpretable R&D systems for the biotech and pharma industries.
Mattias holds an MSc in Nanotechnology from Lund University (LTH) and conducted research in biochemical machine learning and molecular simulation at MIT, AstraZeneca, and the University of Cambridge.
He published at NeurIPS on Bayesian optimization with LLMs and chaired Kodsport Sverige, Sweden's largest competitive programming organization, reflecting a rare blend of deep science and technical leadership.
At MIT's Gomez-Bombarelli lab and AstraZeneca's Molecular AI Lab, Mattias developed frontier models for drug discovery, and at Cambridge he studied protein misfolding diseases in Tuomas Knowles' group.
Halmos Labs was selected for Y Combinator's Fall 2026 batch and raised $500K in seed funding, with its flagship product Halmos Bio targeting the slow and costly biotech R&D cycle by maximizing information extracted from every experiment.
