Max Shand

Max Shand is Co-Founder of Avoca Systems, a YC S26-backed AI-powered operating system for outpatient radiology networks, automating patient scheduling, calls, faxes, e-referrals and communications across the full care journey.
Max studied at the University of Sydney and was the first employee at Australian fintech giant Afterpay, helping scale the business before its $20B exit to Block; he later worked in management consulting at Oliver Wyman.
A serial founder and investor, Max brings rare cross-sector depth spanning fintech, music tech, venture capital and now healthcare AI, with a track record of building and exiting companies.
Max founded and exited Serenade, a music technology platform for artists including Oasis and Lewis Capaldi, which was acquired by ASX-listed Vinyl Group; he also co-founded Strangelove Investments, an early-stage angel syndicate backing Australian and international startups.
Avoca Systems is already live across more than 250 radiology clinics including networks operating 150-plus locations, tackling a sector that accounts for 10% of total US healthcare spend.
