Max Spero is the Cofounder and CEO of Pangram Labs, an AI research lab building the world's most accurate AI content detection platform with an industry-leading 1 in 10,000 false positive rate.

Max studied AI and computer science at Stanford University, then went on to deploy machine learning products at Google, Two Sigma, and Yelp before leading the active learning effort for autonomous vehicles at Nuro.

Recognizing that the mass availability of generative AI posed serious risks to content authenticity, Max co-founded Pangram to make authorship legible for publishers, teachers, journalists, and enterprises.

Max and his Stanford classmate and cofounder Bradley Emi bootstrapped Pangram with roughly $60,000 of their own capital before raising a pre-seed round, and the company later rebranded from Checkfor.ai to Pangram Labs.

Pangram has raised nearly $13 million in total funding, most recently a $9M round led by Menlo Ventures, and has expanded its detection capabilities from text to images, serving educators, enterprises, and major platforms.
