Monique Andersson

Dr. Monique Andersson is Co-Founder of Vivid Dx, a precision diagnostics company developing rapid infectious disease testing to help hospitals identify dangerous pathogens and guide faster antibiotic decisions. She brings deep clinical authority to the venture as a practising Consultant in Clinical Infection at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr. Andersson is a Dutch and South African national who built her career at the intersection of clinical medicine and diagnostic science, serving as Director of the Microbiology Diagnostic Service at the John Radcliffe Hospital, where the lab processes over 600,000 specimens annually. She also holds an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer position in Microbiology at the University of Oxford and is an Extraordinary Associate Professor of Medical Virology at the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town.
Dr. Andersson was appointed to the WHO Global Validation Advisory Committee in 2023, recognising her expertise in laboratory quality and diagnostics. She has served on the UK advisory board of Prenetics and as a visiting professor to the Oxford Suzhou Centre for Advanced Research (OSCAR), pioneering innovative infectious disease diagnostics.
Vivid Dx raised $15 million in seed financing co-led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Cedars-Sinai Intellectual Property, with participation from Jameel Investment Management Company. The company translates cutting-edge Oxford University research into a direct-from-blood diagnostic platform using Raman spectroscopy and AI.
Vivid Dx has achieved 92% concordance with gold-standard antimicrobial susceptibility testing in preclinical trials and aims to compress diagnostic timelines from days to under three hours. The platform directly addresses antimicrobial resistance, a crisis researchers estimate could contribute to 39 million deaths globally between 2025 and 2050.
