Moritz C. Claussen

Moritz C. Claussen is the Founder and Co-CEO of cargo.one, the leading digital air freight platform that is transforming how airlines and freight forwarders conduct business globally. He is a recipient of the TIACA Rising Star Award, recognized for his vision, industry advocacy, and contributions to wholesale digital transformation in air cargo.
Moritz studied at Zeppelin University in Germany and Trinity College School in Canada, and spent a decade building tech ventures before co-founding cargo.one in 2017 alongside Oliver Neumann and Mike Rotgers. He previously held roles at Bessemer Venture Partners and co-founded fintech company OptioPay as Chief Business Officer, as well as retail trading platform Onjo.
Moritz identified a critical inefficiency in air freight booking, where forwarders relied on manual email chains to dozens of airlines, and built the first platform to offer real-time, instantly bookable air cargo rates. He is a prominent thought leader and advocate for the digitalization of air cargo, having lived and worked across Canada, China, Gibraltar, and Spain.
At cargo.one, Moritz directs global sales, marketing, customer support, and airline partnerships, helping grow the platform to serve carriers representing 75% of global air cargo capacity. The company has raised $64M across three funding rounds, including a $42M Series B led by Bessemer Venture Partners in 2020.
cargo.one is relied upon by 25,000 users within the majority of the Top 20 global forwarders and thousands of SMBs, and is available in 134 countries worldwide. The platform has become the backbone of efficient air freight booking and quoting, partnering with major carriers such as Lufthansa, Qatar Airways Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo, and Turkish Cargo.
