Moritz Hardt

Moritz Hardt is Co-Founder of Grubel, a cutting-edge AI research lab automating AI specialisation for complex legal work, and serves as Director of the Social Foundations of Computation department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.
Hardt earned his PhD in Computer Science from Princeton University, then built an elite research career spanning IBM Research, Google Brain, and a professorship at UC Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences.
A pioneer in responsible AI, Hardt co-founded the Workshop on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency in Machine Learning and co-authored two landmark textbooks published by MIT Press and Princeton University Press.
Hardt has co-developed test-time training and co-authored Lawma, a foundational legal AI model, bringing deep research credibility to Grubel's mission of specialising AI for high-stakes professional domains.
