Moritz Stephan

Moritz Stephan is Co-Founder and CEO of Hone, a San Francisco-based AI startup building autonomous agents that own complex business outcomes over weeks and months, not just isolated tasks.
Originally from Austria, Moritz studied computer science at Stanford University, where he conducted agent research in Chelsea Finn's lab, and co-founded the anonymous campus app Fizz with Y Combinator in 2021.
Moritz was one of the first engineers at Cognition to identify and champion the company's pivot into enterprise, demonstrating both deep technical acuity and sharp commercial instincts well beyond his years.
As an early employee at Cognition, he built the core planning-and-execution system behind Devin, the AI software engineer, before being tapped by CEO Scott Wu to serve as Chief of Staff overseeing strategy, hiring, and product.
Hone launched publicly in October 2026 with a $60 million seed round led by Benchmark and Index Ventures at a $285 million valuation, with early customers including Cognition and Modal.
