Niels Bjerg Jensen

Niels Bjerg Jensen is Co-Founder of Mycoverse, a Danish AgTech company developing biological crop protection using AI-driven fungal discovery and advanced production technology. Mycoverse is a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark focused on replacing chemical pesticides with sustainable fungal-based solutions.
Niels holds expertise in molecular biology and metabolic engineering with a background at the University of Copenhagen and DTU. He previously worked as a Project Manager at Chr. Hansen Natural Colors, Team Leader at Evolva, and held roles at AGC Biologics before founding Bjerg Consult in 2022.
Niels is a co-inventor on multiple biotechnology patents related to metabolic engineering and has been cited over 2,000 times in scientific literature. He led the SABS project at DTU to modernize fungal screening using robotics and high-throughput technology.
Mycoverse raised 2.4 million euros in pre-seed funding in 2026 from Future Food Fund, HTGF, and PINC, bringing total funding to 4.3 million euros including earlier backing from BioInnovation Institute. The company secured exclusive technology licenses from DTU and is conducting field trials targeting potato late blight.
Mycoverse's AI-driven platform can screen 100 times more fungal strains than traditional methods, addressing a 1.9 billion euro annual global problem from potato late blight alone. The company aims to deliver biological crop protection that integrates seamlessly into existing farming systems while reducing environmental impact.
