Nithin Kamath

Nithin Kamath is Co-Founder and CEO at Zerodha, India's largest discount brokerage firm revolutionizing retail trading with zero commission equity delivery and flat-fee pricing. He also founded Rainmatter, a fintech fund backing startups like Cred and Smallcase.
Nithin started trading stocks at age 17 and graduated from Bangalore Institute of Technology in Electronics and Telecommunications. He worked as a sub-broker with Reliance Money from 2004 to 2010 before bootstrapping Zerodha with his brother Nikhil in 2010.
Zerodha became India's first discount broker, introducing a flat fee model of Rs 20 per trade that helped traders save up to 90% on brokerage charges. The company achieved unicorn status in 2020 with a $1 billion valuation without raising external funding or spending on advertising.
Zerodha serves over 16 million registered users contributing 15% of India's retail trading volumes and reported revenue of Rs 8,320 crore with Rs 4,700 crore profit in FY24. Nithin also founded Rainmatter Foundation focused on climate and social causes.
Under Nithin's leadership, Zerodha became the largest retail stockbroker in India by 2019, overtaking ICICI Securities entirely through bootstrapped growth. The company launched Varsity, a free educational platform, and Zerodha Fund House to democratize investing for millions of Indians.
