Oliver Birch

Oliver Birch is Co-Founder and CTO at Plato, an AI-native operating system that automates sales intelligence and ERP workflows for wholesale distributors. Plato raised $14.5 million in seed funding led by Atomico in February 2025, marking one of the largest seed rounds in its category.
Oliver studied Computer Science at University of Cambridge and worked as an Early Stage Investor at Octopus Ventures from 2015 to 2018. He previously co-founded Altru, a corporate social impact platform, where he also served as CTO.
Oliver is a serial founder who built his first version of Plato inside co-founder Benedikt Nolte's family-owned distribution business. He combines deep technical expertise with commercial acumen gained from his venture capital experience.
Plato's platform delivers up to 15% revenue growth and saves 5 hours per week per employee through AI-powered sales recommendations and automated quoting. The company is backed by Atomico, Cherry Ventures, and angels from Microsoft, SAP, Celonis, and Personio.
Based in Berlin, Plato targets German medium-sized wholesale companies and plans international expansion across Europe and the US. The platform integrates with existing ERP systems to unlock underutilized data and drive proactive sales intelligence for distribution teams.
