Paul Copplestone is the Co-Founder and CEO of Supabase, the open-source Firebase alternative built on PostgreSQL that empowers developers to build production-ready backends at speed and scale.

A YC alum and three-time founder, Paul studied BCom in IT Project Management and E-Business Systems at the University of Canterbury before co-founding ServisHero, one of Southeast Asia's largest service marketplaces, and Nimbus For Work, an office management platform.

Paul combines hands-on engineering with product leadership, contributing across the full stack including core libraries like supabase-js and auth-js, Postgres schema design, and realtime replication systems built with Elixir and Phoenix.

Under Paul's leadership, Supabase went through Y Combinator (S20) and has raised over $500M across multiple rounds including a $200M Series D at a $2B valuation and a $100M Series E at a $5B valuation.

Supabase has grown to serve 5 million developers across 40 countries, powers backends for companies like GitHub Next, Meta, Netflix, and Microsoft, and has become the default database platform for 40% of the latest Y Combinator batch.
