Paul Veugen is the Founder and CEO of Desert Ant Labs, a European frontier AI lab building opinionated on-device intelligence for developers and product teams worldwide.

Paul studied Communication, Marketing, and Cognitive Science at Tilburg University, then built and exited multiple companies including Usabilla (acquired by SurveyMonkey) and Human (acquired by Mapbox), before serving as VP of Product Marketing at Mapbox.

A serial founder with rare dual operator-investor experience, Paul co-founded NP-Hard Ventures in 2021 and made over 30 pre-seed and seed investments in European and US companies, focusing on product-obsessed founders.

Paul founded Detail Technologies in 2020, whose AI video editor won Apple's iPad App of the Year at the 2025 App Store Awards and was an Apple Design Award finalist in 2026, cementing his track record of building category-defining mobile products.

At launch, Desert Ant Labs shipped 18 on-device models across audio, vision, and text with native SDKs for Swift, Kotlin, and JavaScript, enabling developers to run intelligence on device with no token cost and no data leaving the user's device.
