Poolad Imany is Founder and CEO at Icarus Quantum, a quantum networking company commercializing NIST's quantum dot technology for scalable quantum interconnects. He is an expert in quantum light generation and quantum networking with 11 years of experience in these fields.

Poolad received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in Electrical and Computer Engineering, researching in quantum photonics. He was a postdoctoral associate at NIST, working with on-demand photon sources.

At NIST, Poolad founded Icarus Quantum to commercialize NIST's quantum dot technology for quantum networking. His research has been cited over 1,166 times in quantum photonics and quantum interconnects.

In January 2022, Imany launched Icarus Quantum. Icarus Quantum has raised a total of $2.2M and was awarded a $400,000 SBIR Phase II grant from NIST.

Icarus' quantum dots can boost efficiency to over 70 percent, compared to other sources that achieve a maximum efficiency of one percent. This technology can extend the reach of quantum networks to intercontinental distances.
