Prasanta Sarkar is Co-Founder and CEO of Newtrace, a Bengaluru-based climate tech startup developing next-generation electrolyzer technology to produce affordable green hydrogen at scale.
A 2x Marie Curie fellow, Prasanta brings 9+ years of expertise in aerospace, fluid mechanics, and computational mechanics, and previously served as an MSCA Research Fellow at Universite Grenoble Alpes and an Aerospace Designer at Leonardo.
Prasanta co-founded Newtrace with Rochan Sinha after meeting through Entrepreneur First Bangalore, driven by the mission to bring green hydrogen production costs down to $1/kg using first-principles electrolyzer design.
Newtrace has raised $6.3M in a Pre-Series A round led by HDFC Bank and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Venture Capital, with backing from Peak XV Partners, Aavishkaar Capital, Speciale Invest, and Micelio Fund.
Newtrace's patent-pending Voltagen electrode platform cuts green hydrogen production costs by up to 60%, with first commercial deployments underway from its 30,000 sq ft technology center in Bengaluru.
