Prateek Mittal

Prateek Mittal is a Professor at Princeton University and Co-Founder of Crosslayer Labs (YC W26), a cybersecurity company protecting websites and APIs from hijack and impersonation attacks.
Prateek built his career as a leading academic researcher at Princeton, with visiting research roles at Google and Corelight Labs, specializing in network security, privacy, and machine learning.
He is the recipient of the 2023 ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award, an IEEE Fellow, and an ACM Distinguished Member, recognized for foundational contributions to internet privacy and security.
His research directly shaped the MPIC (Multi-Perspective Issuance Corroboration) standard, now adopted by all major Certificate Authorities including Google, Apple, and Amazon, and he also enhanced the security of deployed LLMs such as GPT-3.5 and GPT-4V at OpenAI.
The MPIC standard now secures over 700 million websites through the issuance of over 3 billion digital certificates, protecting every single HTTPS connection worldwide.
