Prof. Sarel Fleishman is Chief Scientist at Scala Biodesign and a Full Professor in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, where he leads a pioneering protein design laboratory.

He earned his MSc summa cum laude and PhD with distinction from Tel Aviv University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington, Seattle, before joining the Weizmann Institute faculty in 2011.

Prof. Fleishman co-founded Scala Biodesign to commercialize over a decade of validated protein design research, with his lab's algorithms underpinning more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and adopted by 80+ laboratories worldwide.

His honors include the Weizmann Institute Scientific Council Award (2018), the Henri Guttwirth Research Award (2017), an Alon Fellowship, and fellowships from the Human Frontier Science Program and the Sir Charles Clore Doctoral Fellowship.

Scala Biodesign has raised $21.5M in total funding and its ScalaOS platform has onboarded nine of the world's top 20 pharmaceutical companies, transforming protein engineering from trial-and-error into a one-shot computational process.
