Professor Tony Roskilly

Professor Tony Roskilly is Co-Founder and Chairman of H2CHP, a Durham University spinout pioneering next-generation fuel-flexible distributed power generators for data centres, ports, and microgrids.
Roskilly holds the Chair of Energy Systems at Durham University, with over 30 years of experience in energy systems design, control, and optimisation, and previously served as Chair of Marine Engineering and Director of the Sir Joseph Swan Centre for Energy Research at Newcastle University.
He serves as Director of the Durham Energy Institute, represents the UK in the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA), and has an H-Index of 55 with over 200 journal articles published in the last five years alone.
Roskilly's decade-plus research into free-piston engine systems formed the technical foundation of H2CHP, which has raised approximately 3.5M GBP in total funding from Innovate UK, Blackfinch Ventures, and Northstar Ventures.
H2CHP has been selected by Tech Nation as one of 25 leading climate tech startups in the UK, received the TechX Accelerator Award for Economic Impact, and was accepted into the Hydrogen Innovation Initiative by Connected Places Catapult.
