Rahul Gayam is the Founder and CTO at Navion Energy, a Los Angeles-based deep tech startup developing proprietary sodium-ion batteries for American industries and mission-critical applications, backed by leading international VCs including SOSV HAX and Kakao Ventures.

Rahul earned his PhD from the University of Hyderabad researching materials for supercapacitors and batteries in electric vehicles, then worked for an electric truck manufacturing company in the US before co-founding Gayam Motor Works (GMW) and later BILITI Electric.

Rahul was recognized on the Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 list in 2018 in the Industry, Manufacturing and Energy category, and was selected as a Global Fellow of the Mercedes-Benz EQ program in 2019.

He co-founded Gayam Motor Works (GMW), leveraging IoT, cloud connectivity, and in-house battery manufacturing to produce electric auto-rickshaws and bikes, and later founded BILITI Electric in 2021, scaling compact EVs to over 15 countries including the EU.

BILITI Electric's Taskman delivery vehicle surpassed 20 million miles driven and 12 million packages delivered globally, with clients including Amazon, IKEA, and Walmart; Navion Energy is now advancing TWh-scale sodium-ion energy storage using exclusively US-sourced materials.
