Ramin Hasani

Ramin Hasani is Co-founder and CEO of Liquid AI, an MIT spinout building efficient Liquid Foundation Models so intelligence can run on devices, not just data centers. He is also a machine learning researcher at MIT CSAIL.
Ramin earned his Ph.D. with distinction in Computer Science from TU Wien in 2020, where his work on Liquid Neural Networks began. He later was a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT CSAIL with Daniela Rus and a Principal AI Scientist at Vanguard.
He co-invented liquid neural networks, a brain-inspired AI class that stays adaptable after training, drawing on the neural wiring of a tiny worm. His research won the 2022 HPC Innovation Excellence Award, and he is a frequent TEDx speaker.
Ramin co-founded Liquid AI in March 2023 with Mathias Lechner, Alexander Amini and Daniela Rus. The company raised a $250M Series A led by AMD in December 2024 at a valuation of more than $2 billion.
Liquid AI offers an alternative to transformer-based models, with LFM2 open-weight models released in 2025 and the LFM2.5 family now spanning 230M to 24B parameters. Its edge-AI models target phones, laptops and cars, including a planned Mercedes-Benz MBUX rollout.
