Richard Nicholson is Co-Founder and CEO of Overlord Labs, a fabless semiconductor company reimagining battery management systems from the silicon up for the next generation of AI-driven, compute-intensive devices.

Richard holds a Ph.D. in Microelectronics and Radiation Detection from Lancaster University and built deep expertise across roles at Empower Semiconductor, Integense Micro, and CRX Microtech, spanning analog circuit design, mixed-signal IC development, and business development.

Richard co-founded Overlord Labs after recognizing that legacy battery management architectures were no longer keeping pace with the power demands of modern AI workloads, driving him to architect a silicon-first solution.

Under Richard's leadership, Overlord Labs successfully taped out and brought up its flagship GENESIS Battery Intelligence IC, closed an oversubscribed Seed round bringing total funding to $10 million, and attracted board members including a former Texas Instruments battery management chief and a former Acting Secretary of the U.S. Army.

Overlord Labs is advancing GENESIS through Tier-1 OEM customer validation and is targeting volume production in the first half of 2027, with the platform designed to scale across wearables, smart glasses, and edge AI devices.
