Robin Cowie is the Founder and CEO of Skillmaker.AI, an AI-powered extended reality platform revolutionizing vocational workforce training for skilled trades industries across the United States.
Robin grew up in South Africa, where he filmed first-person training videos with his father in gold mines, and later produced the iconic indie film The Blair Witch Project in 1999 before serving as Senior Narrative Producer on six AAA titles at Electronic Arts, including Madden NFL.
With over 30 years in immersive technology and storytelling, Robin brings a rare blend of Hollywood production, AAA game development, and XR innovation to the workforce training space, drawing on 50 years of his father's learning and development expertise.
Prior to Skillmaker, Robin served as CTO at Promising People, pioneering VR-based electrician training, and as Partner and Director of Technology at HELO, delivering immersive brand experiences for McDonald's, Amazon, and Netflix.
Skillmaker has raised $4.5M in pre-seed funding, secured a landmark partnership with NAPA Auto Parts as 2025 Strategic Partner of the Year, and has been named to the 2026 GSV Cup 50, cutting technician training time from two years to just 25 days.
