Ruben de Vries

Ruben de Vries is Co-Founder and CTO at Provable Markets, an SEC-registered Alternative Trading System (ATS) modernizing securities lending and equity finance trading infrastructure. He leads the Amsterdam-based engineering team, applying advanced cryptographic techniques to solve deep inefficiencies in capital markets.
Ruben holds a Bachelor's degree in ICT and built his technical foundation through extensive open source contributions and self-directed learning across software engineering disciplines. His early career spanned roles at Dutch tech platforms including Hyves and Upcoming, sharpening his full-stack engineering expertise.
In 2014, Ruben co-founded Blocktrail, a Bitcoin startup where he served as CTO, which was later acquired by Bitmain and rebranded as BTC.com. This experience forged his deep expertise in cryptography, trust-based systems, and building secure financial software.
Ruben joined Provable Labs in 2018 as CTO, leading the R&D and engineering arm that laid the cryptographic groundwork for what became Provable Markets. His team built Aurora, a cloud-native ATS and one of only two approved submitters into the DTCC SFT clearing solution alongside Broadridge.
Provable Markets has raised $15.5M in total equity funding, with investors including Dialectic Capital Management, Anthemis, and INKEF Capital. Aurora serves as a vertically integrated platform supporting front, middle, and back office functions for securities lending market participants.
