Saurabh Malani

Saurabh Malani, PhD, is Co-Founder and CTO of Fermeate, an industrial biotech company pioneering optogenetic control for precision fermentation to unlock superior unit economics in biomanufacturing.
Saurabh earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University (2019-2024), where he conducted research on optogenetics at the renowned Avalos Lab, and previously held roles at the Agency for Science, Research and Technology and the Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences.
With a chemical engineering lens on biomanufacturing, Saurabh champions capital-efficient, CapEx-light technologies that improve productivity within existing infrastructure rather than requiring costly new builds.
Prior to Fermeate, Saurabh contributed to the Biotransformative Innovation Platform and Singapore's leading research institutions, building deep expertise in industrial bioprocessing and metabolic engineering.
Fermeate's platform has delivered up to 200% increase in protein production within six months across four global food and ingredient company partnerships, and was selected from 200 applicants for the BEAM Circular Accelerator.
