Stefano Babbini

Stefano Babbini is Co-Founder and CEO of Mogu (now operating under SQIM), an Italy-based pioneer in mycelium-based biotechnology and biomaterials for interior design, fashion, and architecture.
Stefano studied at the University of Florence and previously served as Co-Founder of Agroils Technologies and Technical Director at Smart Oil Ltd, building deep expertise in biofuels, renewable energy, and sustainable development.
A multidisciplinary entrepreneur in biotech, sustainability, and circular economy, Stefano is a vocal advocate for EU policy support of sustainable material innovation in competitive markets like building and textiles.
Since co-founding Mogu in 2015, Stefano has led the company to a landmark Series A of 11 million euros backed by CDP Venture Capital, ECBF VC, Kering Ventures, and Progress Tech Transfer, and serves as Equity Partner at Moffu Labs.
Under his leadership, Mogu launched the first commercial mycelium-based products for interior design on the market, partnered with Balenciaga on the EPHEA mycelium coat that won the PETA Luxury Product of the Year Award, and expanded into fashion, automotive, and green building sectors globally.
