Stephen Hughes

Stephen Hughes is Co-Founder of Huxe, an audio-first AI platform that delivers personalized daily briefings and interactive AI podcasts on any topic.
Stephen studied Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science at Duke University, then built his career as a Staff Software Engineer at Google, where he was a core developer on the viral AI research tool NotebookLM from its inception.
Witnessing firsthand how users engaged with NotebookLM's podcast feature, Stephen and his co-founders identified a gap for a more personal, real-time audio experience, inspiring the creation of Huxe.
Stephen, alongside co-founders Raiza Martin and Jason Spielman, left Google in December 2024 to launch Huxe, securing $4.6M in pre-seed funding from investors including Google Research chief scientist Jeff Dean, Conviction, Genius Ventures, and Figma CEO Dylan Field.
Huxe launched publicly in September 2025 after months of invite-only testing, positioning itself at the forefront of the AI voicetech space with its signature live stations and interactive AI host features available on iOS and Android.
