Stuart Philip Wilson

Stuart Philip Wilson, Ph.D., is Co-Founder and CEO of Kinematic Trees, a UK-based robotics software startup building a nature-inspired, robot-agnostic intelligence platform described as a universal robot brain.
Stuart earned a BSc in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Sheffield, an MSc in Bioinformatics and Neuroinformatics from the University of Edinburgh, and a PhD in Computational and Theoretical Neuroscience from the University of Sheffield, where he later became a Senior Lecturer in Computational Neuroscience.
Stuart has explored the computational properties of neural networks and complex systems since 2003, with research published in leading journals including PLoS Computational Biology and Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B. He and co-founder Daniel Camilleri first conceived the idea of a universal robot brain at the Living Machines conference at Stanford University in 2017.
Prior to Kinematic Trees, Stuart served as Chief Science Officer and Technical Director at BOW (Bettering our Worlds), applying his neuroscience expertise to real-world robotics software. He has held academic positions at the University of Sheffield since 2011, spanning both the Departments of Psychology and Computer Science.
Kinematic Trees raised 585K in pre-seed funding in July 2026 from Haatch, the D2N2 Early-Stage Angel Investment Fund, and the British Business Bank Syndicate Fund, with plans for first customer factory deployments and international expansion in the second half of 2026.
