Svend Petersen

Svend Petersen is Co-Founder and CEO at Mycoverse, a Danish AgTech startup developing AI-driven fungal-based biological crop protection solutions to replace chemical pesticides. He holds an MBA in General Management from Copenhagen Business School and brings experience from previous roles at Novozymes and Neu Biologica.
Svend co-founded Mycoverse in 2024 as a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), partnering with co-founder Niels Bjerg Jensen to address the critical gap in sustainable crop protection solutions. The company secured exclusive technology licenses from DTU to commercialize breakthrough fungal discovery technology.
Svend is on a mission to ensure food security, crop quality, and a healthy environment through biological innovation. His leadership combines deep biotechnology expertise with strategic commercialization skills, positioning Mycoverse at the intersection of microbiology, agronomy, and sustainable farming.
Under Svend's leadership, Mycoverse raised 4.3M euros in total funding, including a 2.4M euro pre-seed round in March 2026 co-led by Future Food Fund and High-Tech Gründerfonds, with participation from PINC. The company employs 9 team members and is advancing field trials for its first product targeting potato late blight, a disease causing 1.9 billion euros in annual global losses.
Mycoverse's AI-driven platform identifies fungal strains at unprecedented speed to create biocontrol solutions for Europe's tightening pesticide regulations. The company's biologicals discovery platform has potential for 1 million ton CO2e savings in Denmark alone, enabling a green transition of agriculture while maintaining crop yields and farmer profitability.
