Tanay Kothari is Co-Founder and CEO of Wispr Flow, an AI-powered voice dictation tool that has raised $81 million and is redefining how people interact with technology through voice-first interfaces. He was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2023 for Consumer Technology.
Tanay studied Computer Science and AI at Stanford University, where he taught deep learning alongside Professor Andrew Ng and conducted medical AI research at Stanford's AIMI lab. He previously founded FeatherX, which was acquired by Cerebra Technologies, where he served as Head of Engineering and Product.
As a teenager in Delhi, Tanay built seven mobile and desktop applications that reached over 30,000 downloads across 17 countries, and co-founded Convert.cc, a music intelligence platform that scaled to 2.5 million monthly users without marketing. He represented India at the International Olympiad in Linguistics in 2015 and won the Microsoft and IBM Sponsor Prizes at Stanford's TreeHacks 2017.
Wispr Flow has achieved 40% month-over-month growth since June 2025 and maintains an 85% zero-edit rate, compared to 10% for Apple and Google's native dictation tools. The company supports 104 languages and has been adopted by thousands of users including VCs, entrepreneurs, developers, and users with ADHD, dyslexia, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Wispr Flow personally onboarded its first 500 users via Google Meet to perfect user experience, achieving 90% word-of-mouth growth without a sales team. After six months, the average user types 72% of their characters with Flow, reducing typing time by nearly half and helping people spend less time on screens.
