Tanya Warnecke-Gill

Tanya Warnecke-Gill, Ph.D., is Co-Founder and CTO at Codebreaker Labs, a Boulder-based genomic AI company pioneering Causal Genomics by empirically mapping the real-world effects of genetic variants at scale in human cells.
Tanya earned her Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder and began her career as a founding scientist at OPX Biotechnologies, helping scale the company through multiple financings and its eventual acquisition by Cargill.
A serial biotech founder and prolific inventor, Tanya holds 35+ patents spanning CRISPR editing, cell engineering, and genome engineering platforms, and is co-inventor of the MAD7 nuclease, a widely adopted open-access CRISPR enzyme.
She previously co-founded Inscripta as CTO and Board Director, growing it from inception to 50+ employees, and served as President and CTO of Artisan Bio, where she invented across 13 patent families in CRISPR editing and cell engineering.
At Codebreaker Labs, Tanya leads development of the causal genomics platform, directing high-throughput CRISPR editing, AI-powered variant interpretation, and clinical software integration, with the company closing a $4.5M seed round led by Kickstart in September 2026.
