Tekedra Mawakana

Tekedra Mawakana is Co-CEO at Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company, where she leads overall company strategy with a focus on commercializing the Waymo Driver.
Tekedra earned her JD from Columbia Law School and BA with honors in Political Science from Trinity Washington University, then led global teams at eBay, Yahoo, AOL, and Startec before joining Waymo in 2017.
Named to TIME's AI 100 list, Fortune's 50 over 50, and recognized as the second African American woman to head a self-driving technology company. She serves on the boards of Intuit, Boom Supersonic, and Consumer Technology Association.
Tekedra joined Waymo as VP of Public Policy in 2017, was promoted to COO in 2019, and became Co-CEO in April 2021 alongside Dmitri Dolgov. Under her leadership, Waymo surpassed 100,000 paid trips per week and raised over $11 billion in funding.
Waymo has driven over 100 million fully autonomous miles and now provides 450,000 paid rides per week across six major U.S. cities. The company's safety data shows a 90% reduction in bodily injury claims compared to human drivers.
