Tomasz Tunguz is Founder and General Partner at Theory Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm investing in AI, data infrastructure, and web3 companies. He has worked with eight unicorns including Looker, Monte Carlo, Dremio, Hex, Omni, and MotherDuck.
Tomasz spent 14 years as Managing Director at Redpoint Ventures, where he led the Series A investment in Looker (acquired by Google for $2.6 billion) and backed companies like Kustomer (acquired by Meta for $1 billion). Prior to venture capital, he was a Product Manager at Google working on social media monetization and AdSense expansion.
Tomasz co-authored the book Winning with Data in 2016 and runs one of the most widely read blogs in venture capital at tomtunguz.com, reaching 150,000+ subscribers with daily insights on startups, SaaS metrics, and AI. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Dartmouth College and Engineering Management from Thayer School of Engineering.
