Tomomichi Sassa is a member of the founding team and Chief Financial Officer at Oku Digital Health, an AI-powered digital health company that connects eye insights to whole-body care. He is based in Southern California and oversees the financial foundation of the new company.

Michi holds a BS in Management Science from UC San Diego and built a career in healthcare finance at GE Healthcare, including roles in commercial finance for Life Care Solutions and finance leadership for Ultrasound in the US and Canada. He later served as CFO, West Region (US) at Topcon Healthcare and as CFO of Cortechs.ai.

He draws on two decades of experience steering global healthcare firms toward compliant profitability and sustainable growth. Oku's name comes from the Japanese word meaning depth, reflecting its roots in more than 90 years of Japanese optical engineering.

Oku launched in October 2026 from Topcon Healthcare as a separate company, alongside a founding team with experience from Topcon, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Roche/Genentech and GE Healthcare. Sassa serves as the finance leader for a company built on Topcon's diagnostic infrastructure.

Oku connects more than 10,000 care locations and leverages Topcon's global installed base of 50,000+ diagnostic devices. It has screened over 2.2 million patients outside of traditional eye care and supports pharmaceutical sponsors with real-world data and clinical trial acceleration.
