Ulrik Stig Hansen

Ulrik Stig Hansen is President and Co-Founder at Encord, the AI-native data infrastructure company powering physical AI systems for over 300 global teams including Woven by Toyota, Skydio, and AXA Financial. Encord enables enterprises to manage and optimize multimodal data for AI, with the platform managing over 5 petabytes of data.
Ulrik started his career on the Emerging Markets trading floor at J.P. Morgan in London, where he developed expertise in complex data analysis. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Imperial College London and began coding at age 13 in Denmark.
Ulrik met his co-founder Eric Landau at an entrepreneur network in London, where Eric had worked in high-frequency trading building big data systems. The duo identified a gap in AI data infrastructure and went through Y Combinator to launch Encord in 2020.
Encord raised $60 million Series C led by Wellington Management in February 2026, bringing total funding to $110 million. Revenue has surged more than 10 times in the past 18 months, and the company is valued at $550 million.
Data volume on Encord's platform grew from 1 petabyte to over 5 petabytes, representing three times the data used to train GPT-4. The team has grown to 150+ people across the US and UK with 40+ nationalities represented.
