Vamshi Balanaga

Vamshi Balanaga is the Co-Founder and CTO of Partcl, a GPU-native chip design automation startup headquartered in San Francisco, CA, backed by Y Combinator and Khosla Ventures. He is a technology leader specializing in energy-efficient computing, hardware-software co-design, and embedded machine learning.
Vamshi studied Physics at UC Berkeley and pursued a Stanford EECS PhD (dropout), where his research focused on energy-efficient computing through technology-architecture co-design. He led the avionics team at Space Enterprise at Berkeley, building and launching multiple rockets.
Vamshi brings a rare blend of deep hardware expertise and cutting-edge software engineering, having built embedded ML models at Apple, laser weeding robots at Carbon Robotics, and warehouse automation robots at Fulfil Solutions. His hands-on experience across aerospace, robotics, and semiconductors uniquely positions him to reimagine chip design tooling from the ground up.
At Partcl, Vamshi co-leads the engineering of Boson, a GPU-accelerated Static Timing Analysis (STA) engine that delivers up to 700x speedups over traditional EDA tools, compressing weeks of chip design iteration into seconds. The company has raised $5M led by Khosla Ventures with participation from Y Combinator, Paul Graham, 468 Capital, and others.
Partcl's Boson engine is drawing the attention of elite VLSI researchers and chipmakers by turning previously overnight computations into real-time feedback loops. With a mission to let engineers design a chip in minutes, Partcl is setting new benchmarks in semiconductor design speed and efficiency.
