Vijay Pande

Vijay Pande is Co-Founder and Managing Partner at VZVC, a venture capital firm focused on AI and consumer health at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biology. He co-founded VZVC in 2025 with investor Zack Werner after over a decade at Andreessen Horowitz.
Pande served as founding General Partner of Andreessen Horowitz's Bio + Health fund, raising nearly $3 billion in four funds and backing companies like Insitro, Freenome, Devoted Health, and Function Health. Prior to venture capital, he was Henry Dreyfus Professor of Chemistry, Structural Biology, and Computer Science at Stanford University for 16 years, where he directed the Biophysics program and authored over 300 peer-reviewed papers.
Pande founded Folding@home, a distributed computing project recognized by Guinness World Records as the most powerful distributed computing network, pioneering computational methods in biology. He holds a BA in Physics from Princeton University and PhD in Physics from MIT, and has received the DeLano Award for Computational Biosciences and MIT Technology Review TR100 recognition.
At Stanford, Pande co-founded Globavir Biosciences, an infectious disease startup addressing antibiotic resistance and viral infections including Ebola and dengue fever. He serves on the boards of numerous biotech companies including Apeel Sciences, BioAge Labs, Insitro, Nautilus Biotechnology, Omada Health, and Scribe Therapeutics.
VZVC is currently raising its first investment fund and targets investments in AI-driven drug discovery, synthetic biology, and technology-enabled healthcare startups addressing challenges in healthcare quality, access, and cost. Pande's work has been published in The New York Times, Scientific American, and Fortune, establishing him as a thought leader in computational biology and AI in healthcare.
