Vishal Kuchanur

Vishal Kuchanur is Co-Founder and CTO at Varaha, Asia's largest climate tech company developing high-integrity carbon removal projects through nature-based solutions. He leads technology, product innovation, and strategy for the company that works with over 170,000 farmers across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Ivory Coast.
Vishal has over 14 years of experience in engineering leadership, serving as Engineering Manager at leading Indian companies including Flipkart, BigBasket, and CropIn Technology. He also worked as a software developer at Goldman Sachs and as an engineer at Honeywell Process Solutions.
Vishal holds a Chief Technology Officer Executive Programme in Organizational Leadership from Indian School of Business and a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University. He has deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud computing, AWS, and API development.
Since co-founding Varaha in 2022 with Madhur Jain and Ankita Garg, the company has raised over $78 million in total funding, including a $45 million Series B round led by WestBridge Capital in 2026. Varaha has secured long-term offtake agreements with Google, Microsoft, Lufthansa, Swiss Re, and Capgemini.
Varaha has removed over 2 million tons of carbon dioxide across 14 active projects, generating around 150,000 carbon removal credits. The company was the first in India to issue biochar-based carbon credits and the first in Asia to issue enhanced rock weathering credits through an international registry.
