Volodymyr Kuleshov

Volodymyr is Co-Founder at Inception Labs, pioneering the world's first commercial-scale diffusion language models that run 10x faster and at 1/10th the cost of traditional LLMs. He is also Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Cornell Tech and Cornell University.
Volodymyr earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, where he received the Arthur Samuel Best Thesis Award. His research focuses on machine learning, diffusion-based generative algorithms, and their applications in language and biological sequences.
Volodymyr's work has been recognized with an NSF CAREER Award and NIH MIRA Award, and published in Nature Biotechnology, Nature Medicine, and Nature Communications. He co-founded Afresh Technologies, an AI startup that uses machine learning to reduce food waste and is deployed in 10% of US supermarkets.
Inception Labs raised $50M in seed funding led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from Mayfield, Microsoft M12, Nvidia NVentures, Snowflake Ventures, and Databricks Investment. The company launched Mercury, achieving state-of-the-art throughput of over 1,000 tokens per second on NVIDIA H100 GPUs.
Inception's diffusion LLMs deliver 5-10x speed improvements over leading models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google while maintaining comparable quality. The technology enables real-time AI applications across text, voice, and code generation for enterprise customers.
