Wangda Zuo

Wangda Zuo is Founder of Glacian Technologies, a data center software company that reduces cooling power to expand AI compute capacity. He is also a Professor at Penn State and holds a joint appointment at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Zuo received his Ph.D. from Purdue University and worked as a Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He previously held faculty positions at University of Colorado Boulder and University of Miami.
Zuo is a Fellow of ASHRAE, IBPSA and IEE, internationally recognized for his leadership in data center cooling and building energy modeling. He has won the 2025 IBPSA Innovative Application Award and has published 170+ peer-reviewed papers.
Zuo has led nearly 40 funded R&D projects with $19 million in grants from NSF, DOE, DOD, and ASHRAE, and supervised 20+ Ph.D. students. Glacian is built on over a decade of research supported by $8 million in competitive research grants.
His award-winning innovations have led to real-world deployments and significant energy savings in data center cooling. He is a major contributor to multiple open-source building and community energy modeling tools used globally.
