Wayne Nelms

Wayne Nelms is the Co-Founder and CTO of Ornn AI, where he architects the exchange infrastructure, index methodology, and structured products powering the world's first institutional-grade compute derivatives market.
Wayne studied Mathematics and Computer Science at MIT and went on to trade equity options at Susquehanna International Group (SIG) before working as a software engineer at Google.
Wayne brings a rare combination of quantitative trading expertise and deep engineering experience, championing the principle that compute should be treated as a transparent, utility-class commodity like electricity or natural gas.
Alongside co-founder Kush Bavaria, Wayne co-built the Ornn Compute Price Index (OCPI), now live on the Bloomberg Terminal, and helped secure $33.7M in total funding including a $33M seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz.
Ornn's platform is accessed by over 400 data center operators, investors, and AI companies, with risk transfer facilitated through partners like ICE, which clears futures and options contracts referencing OCPI directly.
