Will Carkner is Co-Founder and CTO at ProvenMetal (YC S26), a company assembling fast-turn, American-made printed circuit boards for hardware, robotics, drone, and defense companies.

Will studied Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, where he built circuit boards from a young age and later shipped the PCB testing pipeline at Lumindt, a San Francisco battery company.

Will's hands-on experience at Lumindt exposed him to the deep inefficiencies in domestic circuit board manufacturing, giving him the technical conviction to build ProvenMetal from the ground up.

Will and co-founder Johnny Doyle previously built Syncra, an IoT building management startup, before pivoting to electronics manufacturing after securing five letters of intent and gaining acceptance into Y Combinator's Summer 2026 batch.

ProvenMetal automates the bottlenecks of PCB production including part procurement, DFM review, and assembly, delivering boards in days instead of weeks for critical sectors like aerospace, medical devices, and defense.
